TT stars go back to school to suprise schoolchildren

by isleofman.com 15th February 2012

TT stars Michael Dunlop and Dan Sayle paid a surprise visit to schoolchildren in the north of the Island last week.

The two riders visited children at Andreas and Bride Schools on Friday, February 10.

The visit was arranged by student teachers Jessica West, Sheila McMenamin and Catherine James who are currently on eight week work placements within the schools.

Currently in their second year of study at Edge Hill University the trio bumped into Michael Dunlop in the Sulby Glen Hotel which is where they are based.

They asked Michael to visit Andreas School and he brought along Manx sidecar racer Dan Sayle.

Both riders chatted to the schoolchildren about the TT and about their motivation to achieve their goals and ambitions.

Andreas and Bride Schools place a strong emphasis on the ability to set and achieve personal goals and encourage children at the schools to regularly set themselves targets and to review their progress towards them on a regular basis.

The TT stars also took part in the Golden Awards Assembly where they presented certificates to pupils for their good quality work and positive attitudes.

This is not the first time the schools have been visited by people connected to the TT. Last year Guy Martin and ITV4 paid a visit which was shown as part of the TT coverage for 2011.
