One of the stars of a hit film made in the Isle of Man has died.

Irish stage and screen actor David Kelly has passed away, aged 82.

He will be remembered for his role in the comedy Waking Ned, in which he was seen riding a motorbike naked. The film was largely shot on the Island and also starred Ian Bannen who was killed in a car accident in 1999.

In a 50-year career Kelly appeared in dozens of movies, including Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

He also played feckless builder Mr O'Reilly in an episode of the classic comedy Fawlty Towers.
