A NEW chief executive has been appointed by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
Richard Lole, who has a strong background in farming, will take up the position in March.
Mr Lole has spent the last two years working in the Chief Secretary's Office, and in human resources, and prior to that spent five years as the director of agriculture for the Department of Fisheries and Forestry.
He will succeed Ken Kinrade who is retiring after a 40 year career in the Isle of Man Civil Service.
Speaking about his appointment Mr Lole said: "I am delighted to be appointed chief executive officer of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture at a time of great challenge and opportunity for the Isle of Man.
"I am passionate about the environment and food production and marketing and I look forward to working with a talented and dedicated team across the department.
"Our efforts will focus on protecting the environment and continuing to grow the food sector's contribution to the Manx economy in a positive and sustainable way."
Department Minister Phil Gawne MHK said he was "delighted" to welcome Richard to the role.
He said: "I am confident he will lead the department with great conviction and enthusiasm. His previous experience will stand him in good stead as we progress a wide range of important issues in the time ahead.
"We have a very knowledgeable and professional team in place at the department who will work closely with Richard in the best interests of the people of the Isle of Man and the industries we represent."
