LIPA academy opens in Ramsey

by isleofman.com 13th February 2012

The curtain has risen on a new stage school in the Isle of Man.

Studio L in Ramsey has been licensed as a franchise of the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, or LIPA.

The LIPA 4:19 part-time academy opened its doors at the end of last month, to youngsters who want to dance, sing and act.

Principal of the new facility Laura Walkom says the idea came about after dance was dropped from the curriculum at Ramsey Grammar School due to cutbacks.

She trained at LIPA herself, and when she spotted they were offering a franchise for their courses she got in touch (listen to audio file below):

Anyone interested in finding out more about studying at LIPA 4:19, at Studio L in Ramsey, can contact Laura on 200790 or email lipa419@manx.net
