MHK to ask about Facebook abuse

by isleofman.com 13th February 2012

AN MHK will raise the issue of cyber abuse in the House of Keys tomorrow (Tuesday).

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson will question Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson MHK on the subject.

In a question for written answer Mr Henderson will ask how many local reports of Facebook abuse have been bought to the attention of police in the last two years.

He also wants to know what action the Department of Home Affairs can take against such abuse and whether any action has been taken against anyone so far.

Mr Henderson has two further questions tabled for answer by the Home Affairs Minister.

He wants to know what value the Department of Home Affairs places on "the deployment of CCTV as a prevention and detection tool" and how valuable CCTV has proved in the prevention and detection of crime.

Mr Henderson will also ask about the number of criminal cases that have been sent to the prosecutions section of the Attorney General's Chambers in the last two years and how many used CCTV footage as evidence when they were brought to trial.

Mr Watterson will also be asked whether he will "implement a code of practice and licensing system for the use of surveillance cameras" in a question tabled by South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft.
