Manxman talks of life in the Falklands

As tensions mount in the South Atlantic, on the run-up to the 30th anniversary of the Falklands war between Britain and Argentina, a Manxman who owns land in the Falklands has just returned from one of his regular visits.

Chairman of the Strand Group John Helowell has two small islands, which he keeps as nature reserves.

He says life in the South Atlantic is very different from back home.

On Mandate today (Friday) he said one example was a much reduced choice of things to buy in the shops (listen to audio file below):
