MHKs to face Glenside union protest

Government plans to close a residential care home for the elderly have prompted a union protest.

Unite members affected by the closure of Glenside in Douglas are to demonstrate outside the House of Keys, before the sitting on March 6.

Earlier this week, social care chiefs announced plans to shut the facility by 2014, as part of an overhaul of adult social care in the Isle of Man.

Regional industrial organiser for Unite Steve Salter believes the decision is purely about saving money:
