Immunisation debate this evening

by isleofman.com 10th February 2012

A talk for parents and health workers on the pros and cons of vaccination is being held in Douglas this evening (Friday).

The event at Noble's Park pavilion has been organised by the Isle of Man Immune Support Group, which has invited a speaker from the UK.

The talk will centre on ways to boost the body's natural immune system through nutrition, lifestyle and limited use of vaccinations. There'll be a chance to ask questions about opting for single or low dose vaccines.

The talk comes a few days after the Department of Health urged parents to ensure their children have the triple-dose MMR vaccine, in the light of growing numbers of measles, mumps and rubella cases in the Island.

Organisers say tonight's speaker is a medical practitioner, keen to spark debate on an important issue.
