Chance of third win scuppered by crash

by isleofman.com 10th February 2012

A touch of wheels in a sprint finish to the sixth and final stage of the Tour of Qatar denied Mark Cavendish the chance of a third win in a week of racing.

The 'Manx Missile' crashed about 150 metres out when well placed on Tyler Farrar's wheel.

There appear to be no significant injuries as he remounted his bike and rolled over the line minus his helmet.

A few cuts and bruises seem to be the only damage, as Cav stopped and signed autographs for fans before returning to the team hotel.

Cav finished in sixth place in the overall General Classification.

The race was won by Belgian Tom Boonen.
