Alleged drug importer refused bail

A 23-year-old man from Norris Green in Liverpool has been charged with importing drugs worth over ?6,000 into the Isle of Man.

David Blanchard was also accused off possessing cannabis and diamorphine when he appeared before Jayne Hughes, the deputy high bailiff.

He was arrested at 5.50pm on February 5, as he got off the ferry.

Rosemary Burnett, prosecuting, said two and half ounces of diamorphine were found.

An application for bail was made by Blanchard's advocate but it was refused by Mrs Hughes.

He was remanded in custody until February 14.
