THE Claremont Hotel in Douglas has been highly commended at the International Hotel Awards.
The hotel was commended in the Hotel Interior UK category for the design of its bedrooms.
Mark Wilson, managing director of Sleepwell Hotels, said it was nice to receive praise from the hospitality industry.
He explained: "Whilst we were confident that our time spent on consumer research and intricate design details would be well received we had no idea just how much of an impact this would have.
"Not only have we been awarded this exclusive highly commended recognition but our new luxury rooms were also shortlisted for the 'Best Design Award 2011' for the renowned UK Caterer and Hotelkeeper publication.
"We are extremely pleased that the innovative vision we have for The Claremont Hotel has received such immense praise from experts within the hospitality industry."
The International Hotel Awards were held at the Savoy Hotel in London. The judging panel consisted of 20 leading business representatives from companies including Google and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
