Henderson seeks Glenside guarantees

An MHK says the welfare of residents and staff is the priority after the news a residential care home in the Isle of Man is to close.

A House of Keys question from Bill Henderson (North Douglas) prompted an admission that the government-run Glenside Resource Centre in Douglas will shut by 2014.

It's part of an overhaul of adult social care, which is expected to save around ?3 million over the next four years.

Mr Henderson, who successfully opposed a similar plan four years ago, says he is encouraged by the sensitivity of the social care minister over the issue, but wants a number of guarantees:
