THE Island's Lieutenant Governor has sent "warm and loyal greetings" to the Queen.
His Excellency Adam Wood sent a personal letter to acknowledge the diamond anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne.
The typed letter which was timed to reach Buckingham Palace on February 6 - 60 years to the day that the Queen took the throne - read:
"On behalf of the people of the Isle of Man I send warm and loyal greetings to Your Majesty on the occasion of the diamond anniversary of Your Majesty's accession to the throne."
Mr Wood then added a personal handwritten message which read: "I have the honour to remain, ma'am, Your Majesty's most humble and obedient servant."
Last week it was announced that a working group had been set up by the Council of Ministers to establish how the Isle of Man is planning to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on Friday, July 6. For more on this story click here.
