Shopkeepers speak out!

by isleofman.com 7th February 2012

Shopkeepers in Castle Street, at the north end of Strand Street in Douglas, say something must be done to 'lift' the area and make it more attractive.

They say their businesses are suffering because of the way some people treat the area, throwing down litter and, in some instances, using dark alleys as a toilet.

They also say the street lighting is inadequate or broken and the pavements are hazardous for disabled people.

Last night ( Monday) they met their East Douglas MHKs to see what can be done.

This shopkeeper keeps a tally on those who do make it down the street.
