by isleofman.com 6th February 2012

POLICE have named the biker who was killed in a road traffic collision on Wednesday last week (February 1).

He was 19 year old Douglas Aaron Spencer – who was known as Doug – from Laxey.

Mr Spencer was killed when the black Yamaha motorcycle he was riding collided with a silver Honda Jazz on the Baldrine to Laxey Road.

The collision took place around 150 metres south of the Ballabeg tram crossing on the Manx Electric Railway at around 5.20pm.

Police closed the road for approximately six hours while they conducted enquiries and later issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Inspector Terry Stephen of the Roads Policing Unit is leading the investigation. He said: "There has been a very good level of response from members of the public following the appeal last week but if there is anyone who remembers seeing a black coloured Yamaha motorcycle being ridden towards Laxey or a silver coloured Honda Jazz car being driven towards Baldrine please contact your local police station."
