Valkyrs thrash champions

by isleofman.com 4th February 2012

Valkyrs issued a statement of intent in the Wi-Manx men’s Premier Division on Saturday.

They thrashed title rivals Bacchas A 4-0 to move two points clear at the top of the table.

Something was always going to give in the clash of the sides with the 100 per cent records and goals from Ollie Webster (two), Chris Caldwell and Gareth Morris saw off the reigning champions in convincing style.

Elsewhere, a Connor Byrne hat-trick fired Vikings A to a 3-0 victory over Bacchas B, while Paul Kelly also hit a treble as Castletown A won 3-0 against Ramsey A to stay third.

In the Wi-Manx women’s Premier Division, Vikings A showed just why they’re champions.

They beat early season leaders Bacchas A 8-0.

It was one-way for the reigning champions who found the net, courtesy of Kim Carney (two), Melissa Bell (two), Sarah Blackman (two) and Kirsty Cooper.

It was a point apiece between Valkyrs A and Castletown A as Amy Speed and regular Town marksman Zoe Shimmin traded goals.

The match between Vikings B and Bacchas B ended goalless.
