Two ties go to form

by isleofman.com 4th February 2012

The two FA Cup ties to survive the weather all went to form.

With most matches postponed due to the torrential rain, only two sides reached the quarter-finals.

At the Bowl, St Mary’s ran out 4-1 winners over Douglas Royal after an early shock.

Paddy Dempsey had fired the Second Division side ahead before Adam Pate equalised.

In the end, the Saints had too much for battling Royal with a Tom Weir double and a Steve Priestnal goal sealing victory.

In the only other match, Blane Slattery, Louis Thornton and Jamie Stoy were amongst the scorers as Corinthians saw off Gymns 5-0 at Ballfletcher.

The Foxdale-St George’s match was abandoned early in the second half with the league champions leading 7-0 at half-time.

In league action, Pulrose won 2-1 at Malew in the sole game in JCK Division Two.
