Cuts planned for Manx Radio

by isleofman.com 1st February 2012

Cuts to Manx Radio’s government subvention could mean job losses at the station, if Tynwald approves its 2012 Budget.

Management are consulting with staff after proposals were put to them yesterday (Tuesday).

The subvention is expected to be reduced to ?850,000 - ?77,000 less than last year.

That figure is ?300,000 less than promised under a formula agreed by Tynwald in 2006.

At present, proposals include restructuring the station, job losses and reduced services.

Managing director Anthony Pugh says that may mean some job losses, although new posts are being created.
