RADIO 2 broadcaster Chris Evans has revealed that the TT film Closer to the Edge is on his "must watch" list.
The film, which was produced by CinemaNX and the Isle of Man Government, was the subject of a feature on his radio show this morning (Tuesday).
Steve Christian, the chairman of CinemaNX, spoke to Chris Evans as part of the "mystery guest" segment.
The broadcaster was challenged with conducting an "interesting and stimulating" interview with an unknown guest for three minutes without any prior knowledge of the subject.
The mystery guest was revealed as someone who had a connection to a speedy movie that was on his "must watch list" and someone who would give a "behind the scenes taste of the film that puts the move into movie".
After Mr Christian was revealed as the guest he told Radio 2 listeners how the film, which was released last year, had come about.
He said: "It's been waiting to happen for a long time. The TT has been going for over 100 years and the Hollywood boys kept calling us with scripts, sending us this, sending us that, sending us the other, but you know they were all just so bad.
"We did the whole thing and just decided to do it ourselves, warts and all, and just show people what the TT is all about – how fast and furious it is, how exciting it is, and just what a fantastic sporting spectacle that we've got over here.
"We picked probably the best year that we could have ever had which makes for a brilliant movie. There are some pretty spectacular thrills and spills along the way."
Discussing the riders who take part in the event, who Chris Evans described as "mad", Mr Christian said: "You've got to be really really different to do it.
"One of the guys we followed in 2010 is Guy Martin who is a fantastic racer and his strapline is 'Just because your breathing it doesn't mean you are alive'.
"That kind of sums it up for these boys – they just go that little bit further to the edge. They are a breed apart."
Chris Evans proceeded to tell his listeners to write down Guy Martin's phrase and stick it on a post-it note above their computers to inspire them.
He added: "I've got to be here till half past nine (at Radio 2) but I already just want to stop immediately and watch this because I've just been handed the DVD!"
