MoS seeks support from mayor

by isleofman.com 30th January 2012

Legendary London club the Ministry of Sound is stepping up the pressure in a planning battle with a Manx company.

The club's owners have written to mayor Boris Johnson for his support, inviting him to visit the nightspot in the early hours to see what the venue offers the city.

It's the latest move in a row about Oakmayne Properties' plan to build a 41-storey block of flats across the road.

Club bosses fear if the plan goes ahead, complaints from residents would eventually mean the club would be forced to shut its doors.

After Southwark Council rejected the plan, Mr Johnson called in the application, meaning he will make the final decision himself.
