Playtech looks to Channel Island

by isleofman.com 30th January 2012

A Manx-based eGaming company has become the first to apply for a licence in Jersey.

Playtech, which develops gaming software, is applying for a remote gambling licence under laws introduced in 2008.

It's the first official request for a licence as Jersey tries to build up its eGaming offering.

But the Channel Island has been at a disadvantage because, unlike the Isle of Man, it hasn't been whitelisted by the United Kingdom, so companies based there can't advertise to the British market.
