STAFF at Simcocks Advocates have raised almost £5,000 for Rebecca House Hospice following a year of fundraising activity.
The Douglas based law firm adopted the charity for 2011 and raised £4,771.46 which will be used to buy equipment for the hospice.
David Spencer, director of Simcocks Advocates, said: "Support for Rebecca House has been very enthusiastic and everyone in the company has been involved in raising this money.
"Lots of different events have been organised throughout the year and all the hard work has paid off. The results have exceeded expectations and we are delighted to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the charity."
Fundraising events that took place included a sponsored abseil, dress down days and car boot sales.
Staff also signed up for a month long fitness challenge – clocking up more than 1,000 miles by swapping their cars for bicycles to get to and from work.
This initiative was also supported by Thomas Miller Investment (Isle of Man) Limited and Cayman National Bank and Trust Company (Isle of Man) Limited.
David continued: "The September fitness challenge was a very positive thing to do as it was a novel way of raising money as well as helping some of us in getting fit."
Mary Doyle, the PR and marketing manager for Hospice Isle of Man, said: "A huge thank you to all the staff and directors at Simcocks for all their endeavours for our children's hospice.
"This is an amazing amount and will be used to help fund a specific piece of equipment for our patients to use. I would add our appreciation to other companies involved in this initiative."
