THE Island's lifeboat stations are taking part in the RNLI's SOS day today (Friday) - the charity's biggest event of the year.
This morning a coffee morning hosted by Peel Guild will take place at the Roman Catholic Hall in Patrick Street from 10am to 12pm.
Tonight there will be a quiz at Peel Legion starting at 8pm.
A BBQ breakfast is in store for visitors to Ramsey this morning. The volunteer RNLI crew are inviting members of the public to join them for a Sample Our Sausages fundraiser.
The crew will also be undertaking a Soap Our Saloons event between 10am to 2pm, with a suggested donation of £5 per car.
Meanwhile Douglas RNLI Guild will be offering a lunch at The Views, Onchan. Tickets are £17 and can be ordered in advance from Tracy Keig on 456178 or by emailing tracykeig@manx.net
For a lighter option, join the volunteers at Port Erin Guild and Station for 'Soup Or Spud' as they showcase a variety of displays and stalls for all to enjoy between 9.30am to 3pm. Food will be served between 11am to 2.30pm.
Customers at Shoprite in Port Erin will be able to show their support for the RNLI all day as crew members will be in attendance with collection buckets during a Save Our Silver fundraiser.
There will also be a number of events tomorrow (Saturday).
The Port St Mary Guild will be hosting a night to remember at the yacht club as the crew note the sinking of the Titanic.
Participants are given the opportunity to turn up in costume and will be allocated stateroom or steerage seating.
For details call into Port St Mary RNLI Lifeboat Station.
For those who missed the Soap Our Saloons fundraiser at Ramsey, there will be an opportunity to get your car gleaming by a repeat of the car wash event at Port Erin from 10am to 2pm.
Then Castletown RNLI volunteers will be hosting a Serve Our Soup and Sell Our Stuff event at Morton Hall between 2pm and 4pm, stalls cost £6, with an entrance fee of £1 including soup.
RNLI staff who support Manx crew from the Divisional Base in St Asaph, North Wales will be joined by lifeboat crews around the Manx coast in challenging themselves to run, cycle or row faster than a Tamar class lifeboat.
They are calling on people around the coast to Race the Tamar, which takes a mere 25 minutes to travel eight miles across stormy waters.
Teams of two to eight can take it in turn to run, cycle or row eight miles in the fastest time possible.
RNLI Community Fundraising Manager Adele Fuller said: "Fundraising is already well and truly underway, but SOS Day is an ideal opportunity for people to get involved and show their support.
"We've heard about some interesting events taking part in across the country but are issuing a final plea to anyone wishing to support us to register their interest."
