THIS year's Relay for Life event in aid of Cancer Research UK will take place on Saturday, August 25.
It will be the third time the event has been held in the Isle of Man and will see teams of walkers compete in a walking relay over a 24 hour period.
Last year more than 400 people, making up over 25 teams, took part in the event, raising over £43,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Registrations are now open for this year's event and organisers have said they hope to attract more than 40 teams.
The Relay for Life, which takes place at the NSC, will see cancer survivors start proceedings by leading the first lap of the relay.
When dusk falls all of the participants will take part in a Candle of Hope ceremony led by the cancer survivors.
A spokesperson for the Relay for Life event said: "This is a very moving ceremony in which tea lights are displayed in bags decorated in memory of loved ones lost to cancer and in celebration of survivors who have beaten cancer.
"This is the only time during the 24 hours that the walk is suspended with everyone leaving the track to participate."
People who do not want to take part in the physical part of the event are invited to attend on the day to support the teams of walkers.
