A story to inspire

by isleofman.com 21st January 2012

The story of the boy from the backstreets of Belfast who went on to welcome the most powerful man on earth to Britain will be re-told on Sunday evening.

Reverend Eric Smyth left school with few qualifications and was told he had no future.

Dyslexic, he went onto become Lord Mayor of Belfast when he met former president of the United States Bill Clinton and was also awarded an OBE for his charity work.

Reverend Smyth will tell his story at Port Erin Gospel Church at 7pm on Sunday (January 22).
