Onchan break D&D hearts

by isleofman.com 21st January 2012

A dramatic finish broke Douglas & District hearts in the GH Corlett Woods Cup on Saturday.

D&D looked set to knock Onchan out before Joe Hughes hit an 89th minute equaliser.

And then, just as extra-time loomed, Fletcher Craine pounced to fire Onchan to a 3-2 victory.

Rob Byrne scored the other Onchan goal in the preliminary round tie.

League strugglers Ronaldsway gave themselves a massive boost with a 3-2 win over Malew.

Adam Drewitt scored both for the visitors, one from the penalty spot, but it was the Rockets’ day, courtesy of Simon Lee (two) and Jordan Edge.

Pete Lewis, Anthony Corkill and Danny Chalk found the net as Michael saw off Colby 3-0, while Liam Leece, Scott Kermeen and Stuart Morrison were on target as Foxdale won 3-2 at the Police after extra-time.

Douglas Royal booked their place with a 3-1 home success over Braddan.
