'No place for outdated MEA shops'

An MHK says her bid to determine the future of the MEA retail outlets wasn't designed to create uncertainty among staff.

South Douglas member Kate Beecroft brought a motion to Tynwald this week about the Manx Electricity Authority shops, which make significant losses.

The issue will now be addressed by the reform committee which is assessing the scope of government, after a suggestion from Chief Minister Allan Bell, which was supported by Mrs Beecroft.

She believes the original purpose of the MEA shops is outdated:
