Health officials give measles warning

by isleofman.com 19th January 2012

The Department of Health is investigating a suspected case of measles in an Isle of Man teenager.

If confirmed it's likely to have been acquired abroad, as there have been outbreaks of measles in many European countries recently.

The department has been in touch with close contacts of the youngster to advise them what they should do, as measles is highly infectious to those not protected against it.

Anyone who has recently arrived in the Isle of Man from Europe should register with a GP and ensure all family members are immunised.
