AN MHK will discuss the controversial PIP breast implants in the House of Keys next week.
East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell wants to know about assurances given to NHS patients from the Isle of Man who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery in the UK.
She will ask Health Minister David Anderson MHK what written assurances women, who were treated at the Linda McCartney Centre or Whiston Hospital, have been given to say that they have not received the controversial PIP implants.
This is despite the Department of Health stating that it believed no women in the Isle of Man, both NHS and private, who received treatment in the UK had been fitted with the implants.
The PIP implants have made the news recently after it was found that the French company who manufactured them (Poly Implant Prothes) used industrial grade silicone in the implants.
Medical experts are currently debating whether the implants should be removed, and if so, who should foot the bill for this work.
The House of Keys sitting will take place at 10am on Tuesday, January 24.
