Minister will fight to preserve student funding

The future of student grants in the Isle of Man is still 'uncertain'.

In Tynwald today (Tuesday), Education Minister Peter Karran admitted he could give no long-term guarantee about funding.

However, he insisted he would do all he could to ensure students leaving the Isle of Man for university continued to receive full backing.

Since 2010, students from the Island have needed higher grades to qualify for university funding, a change Mr Karran supports:
