THE Island's Home Affairs Minister has made it into the latest edition of Private Eye magazine.

Juan Watterson MHK is mentioned in the "Rotten Boroughs" section of the magazine (issue 1305).

The magazine, which provides a satirical look at current affairs, highlights an incident which took place before Christmas when Mr Watterson was sick on a bus after his department's Christmas party.

It happened just hours after Mr Watterson had spoken at a press conference about the dangers of overdoing it during the festive period. 

The Island's youngest MHK later issued a public apology saying he was "mortified" he had let his judgement lapse.

Highlighting the story the Private Eye website states: "Isle of Man – Home affairs minister issues stern warning not to over-drink during festive period…can you guess what happened next?"

The full story, which is published in the magazine, reads: "On the Friday before Christmas the Isle of Man's home affairs minister, Juan Watterson, 31, in his capacity of supremo of the island's drugs and alcohol strategy, issued a stern warning to anyone tempted to overdo the seasonal good cheer.

"Later that night, alas, the minister suffered what he described as a 'lapse of judgement' getting 'a little bit drunk' and vomiting on a bus.

"He has duly been nominated for the next Rotten Boroughs Awards in the 'Don't Do What I Do, Do What I Say' category."
