Now's the time to sign up for the Parish Walk

by isleofman.com 17th January 2012

MICHAEL George of the Welbeck Hotel writes about the Parish Walk which will take place on Saturday, June 23:

"Happy New Year!

"By the very fact that you are reading this I am now assuming that you at least have a passing interest in walking and hoping that increasing it featured greatly in your resolutions that you intend to keep to in the next 12 months.

"One thing that you have probably noticed, as the adverts and articles are appearing, about this year's Parish Walk is that the main sponsor Manx Telecom (I hesitate to use the adjective 'new' as they have been involved for many years) has massively enlarged their commitment to the event.

"The major benefit is that they are offering a £5 discount to their customers who enter. All you have to do is enter on www.parishwalk.com and put your Manx Telecom number in the box and the figure is automatically amended.

"You only have until January 31 to take advantage of this offer.

"The full entrance fee has increased to £30 for 2012. While this is quite expensive for a walk you do receive good value for money including:

  • Improved quality 'technical' shirt
  • Feeding stations
  • Finishers’ awards and prizes
  • Certificate
  • Timing and results service
  • Free buffet on presentation night
  • Bounty bag
  • Marshals, police presence, ambulances and civil defence

"You are also contributing towards the host club, Manx Harriers, which enables its athletes to compete around the UK.

"A fabulous sense of achievement!."
