by isleofman.com 14th January 2012

Ramsey Youth Centre gave themselves a massive lift in their bid to beat the drop on Saturday.

The newly promoted northerners thrashed fellow strugglers Gymns 5-0 to move further away from the drop zone.

Jason Craine was the star of the show with four goals while Oliver Barker grabbed the other.

Old Boys missed the chance to go level at the top of the Canada Life Premier League as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Corinthians.

Robbie Ward scored both for the hosts who twice came from behind but Kane Riding and Blane Slattery’s goals meant the sides shared the points.

Rushen overcame basement battlers Ayre United to move up to second.

After a close first half, they eventually ran out 8-3 winners at Andreas.

Josh Kelly hit four with Chris Shimmin, Jack Saxon and Mike Baker – plus Aaron Hawley from the penalty spot – netting the others for the southerners.

James Teare (pen), Sam Patmore and Lee Camalarie were on target for the Tangerines who only trailed 3-2 at the break.

A first half double from Ashley Webster, one from the penalty spot, secured Laxey a 2-0 win at Ramsey as they moved up to third.

The big match at the Bowl went the way of St Mary’s as they defeated Peel 4-2.

Brian Crellin (two), Conor Gorman and Steve Priestnal were the Saints’ goal-getters.

Daniel Bell and Daniel Lace found the net for Peel.

St John’s gained revenge for an early season defeat to Castletown by winning 7-3 at the Stadium.

Andy Glover settled the mid-table clash with five and was joined on the scoresheet by Eric Kelly and Antony Moore.

Lee Davenport, Brett Alcotte and Alex Crawley got the goals for Castletown.
