New tender system welcomed by contractors

by isleofman.com 11th January 2012

Changes to the way contractors find out about government projects should save taxpayers' cash, according to the Isle of Man Employers' Federation.

In future, government will supply details of tender opportunities via the federation, rather than place adverts in local papers, which it has done for many years.

The move will be a further blow to Isle of Man Newspapers, which has been forced to lay off staff and shift its printing operation to the United Kingdom, and recently warned it couldn't cope with increased editorial competition from the BBC.

Les Nicholl of the Employers' Federation says the new process utilises modern technology.
