Port St Mary cafe to host "vintage" Sunday film screenings

by isleofman.com 11th January 2012

PATCHWORK Cafe in Port St Mary has been given permission to show matinee film performances.

Currently the cafe, which is located on Bay View Road, runs a Cinema Supper Club on a Thursday evening.

Following the licensing approval, which was granted by Douglas Licensing Court, owners Rich and Adrienne Ashcroft will now run a weekend event called "Vintage Sundays @ Patchwork".

Adrienne explained: "The idea of enjoying a home made afternoon tea with friends whilst watching old movies sounded so utterly beguiling - we immediately knew we had to change our license.

"Because it's afternoon tea and a classic film we decided to name the event "Vintage Sundays @ Patchwork'."

The couple plan to screen classic "must see films" from genres including film noir, romance, western, war, silent and fantasy.

Rich added: "Although, being such a small venue, we are always happy to take recommendations."

Vintage Sundays @ Patchwork will take place every Sunday at 4pm and pre-booking is required.

Up to 24 people can be accommodated with entry charged at £8.95 per person. This includes sandwiches, cream scones, a cake selection and tea or coffee. Guests may bring their own alcohol with no corkage charged.

For more information on the Patchwork Cafe and to sign up to the film newsletter visit www.patchwork.im or telephone 01624 836418.
