A Manx-based software company is hoping to score a success on televisions with its Linux operating system.

Canonical Software, based in Circular Road in Douglas, announced Ubuntu TV at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

Ubuntu TV is aimed at television manufacturers and comes after the company's founder Mark Shuttleworth said he wanted to see Ubuntu on all devices by 2014.

He wants to see his firm's software on tablets, phones, TVs and smart screens, and Canonical has been displaying a prototype at the show under the tagline 'TV for human beings'.
