A TALK about Robin Hood will take place at the Manx Museum in Douglas later this month.
Renowned speaker Professor Ronald Hutton will set out to answer three key questions - why Robin Hood achieved his legendary status, what his legend actually is and whether there were ever any genuine historical characters behind him and the the members of his band.
It will also answer, in passing, the question of why he wasn't Manx!
Robin Hood has become the most famous outlaw of all time. From literature and plays to blockbuster films and TV programmes he is known around the world.
Professor Hutton lectures at the University of Bristol and frequently appears as a consultant on British television and radio. He is also an author and an authority in a range of subjects, including Britain in the 16th and 17th centuries, ancient and medieval paganism and the global context of witchcraft beliefs.
His talk on traditional fairy beliefs at the Gaiety Theatre in January 2011 drew an audience of more than 400 people.
The Robin Hood talk takes place on January 13 and doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start at the Manx Museum.
Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children and the Friends of Manx National Heritage and they are available from www.manxheritageshop.com and the Manx Museum shop.
Places are limited so budding attendees should book early to avoid disappointment.
