Death in Peel: man had deep cut

by isleofman.com 5th January 2012

A Peel man found dead in the town on Christmas Eve was concerned at having to return to a mental health unit where he was receiving treatment.

The inquest of 57-year-old Philip John Brown heard how the delivery driver's body was found on East Quay, shortly before 5pm.

The hearing was told he had been seen by his partner that morning and was anxious at having to return to Grianagh Court later that day.

A post mortem revealed he died from a 15 centimetre cut to the left side of his neck, which was about eight centimetres deep.

Coroner of inquests Jayne Hughes offered sincere sympathy to Mr Brown's family, particularly his partner and son, and adjourned the inquest to allow funeral arrangements to be made.
