Police name motorcycle rider killed near to Fairy Bridge

POLICE have named the motorcycle rider killed in a road traffic collision near to Fairy Bridge yesterday (Tuesday).

 

He was John Barrie Sumner, known to all as Barrie, who was 46 years old from Castletown.

 

Mr Sumner was riding his red Honda VFR motorbike towards Douglas, travelling to work, when he was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Zafira, being driven towards Castletown, at around 6.15am.

 

The A5 Castletown to Douglas road was closed for several hours while police conducted enquiries at the scene.

 

Police have repeated a request for witnesses to the incident to come forward and would like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area between 6.10am and 6.15am. Anyone with information is asked to telephone 01624 631212.

 

A file for the Coroner of Inquests is being prepared by the Roads Policing Unit.
