The concept of releasing parcels of land for large executive houses, in order to raise money to help people at the bottom end of the property ladder, is 'very plausible', according to Nick Cooper, the residential director for estate agents Black Grace Cowley.
The idea has been put forward by the Liberal Vannin Party in a winter portfolio of proposals.
It would see money raised from the sale of plots for large houses used to fund a part equity mortage scheme, under which the Manx government would become the co-owner of properties to help young couples get a foot on the housing ladder.
Mr Cooper says it's very good news the idea is being discussed, but it would need careful consideration:
