Local artists to display "work in progress" for Drawings exhibition

by isleofman.com 4th January 2012

A NUMBER of local artists will display their rough drawings and sketches as part of the Sayle Gallery's first exhibition of 2012.

"Drawings" will feature artwork from 17 artists and much of the work on display will be "work in progress".

Although drawing itself is a fundamental activity of any visual artist many prefer to keep their early sketches and initial ideas to themselves.

At this exhibition initial ideas will be on show to give visitors to the exhibition an insight into how artists turn their initial thoughts into final pieces.

The artists who will be featured include: Jelena Benson, Vicki Blackburn, Andrea Byrne, David Byrne, Carola Colley, Nancy Corkish, Colleen Corlett, James Duggan, Gill Dyer, Myra Gilbert, Eric Glithero, Peter Hearsey, Gillian Hinds, Andrea Jeavons, Cas Powles, Rosi Robinson and Eileen Schaer.

“Drawings” will run at the Sayle Gallery in the Villa Marina from Friday, January 13 to Sunday, February 5. Admission is free and all works are for sale.
