POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in the south of the Island this morning (Tuesday).
A motorcycle rider received fatal injuries as a result of the collision which happened at around 6.15am near to the Fairy Bridge.
Police have not yet named the rider but said the person was riding a red Honda VFR towards Douglas when they collided with a black Vauxhall Zafira being driven towards Castletown.
The Castletown to Douglas road (the A5) was closed until around 12pm to allow police to conduct enquiries at the scene.
Police have asked for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them on 01624 631212.
The motorcycle rider's next of kin and the Coroner of Inquests have been informed.
