It follows a road traffic collision on the A5.

The road has been shut between the Blackboards corner and Ballavale Road junction at the Santon Motel.

Police have said the collision, which happened at Fairy Bridge, is "serious" and that the road will be closed for several hours.

Bus Vannin has said services 1, 2 and X1 will be diverted via the Orrisdale Road, St Marks, Braaid and Cooil Road to Douglas and vice versa until further notice.
