Chief minister 'optimistic' for 2012

The Isle of Man is gearing up to face the challenges ahead.

Chief Minister Allan Bell says the focus is now on stabilising the economy in the face of mounting pressures elsewhere, most notably in Europe.

The budget, due next month, will be the first under Mr Bell's administration and the first with Eddie Teare as minister at the Treasury.

It's expected to be a tough statement with tens of millions in income cuts still working their way through the system.

However, Mr Bell is optimistic for the future:
