NEW Year’s Day is coming in to the Isle of Man with some sunny but breezy weather, but will be followed by some serious storms early next week and the likelihood of major disruption to ferry services.
Gusts up to 65 mph have been forecast by the Met Office at Ronaldsway for Monday and Tuesday which is likely to produce a spectacular sight along the south and west coasts of the Island.
If the forecast is accurate, it is almost certain that ferry services will once again see major disruption.
New Year’s Eve, however, is not likely to be a poor night for party-goers with the forecast being “mainly fair”, although it will be breezy.
For the hundreds of New Year’s Day dippers all around the Island the water temperature will remain around 5 degrees, whatever the weather, but it’s not expected to be too stormy as most of the events will be sheltered from the south west winds. However, Port Erin beach, venue for the fourth leg of the Southern Dippers event, could see some big waves.
The weather turns really stormy overnight on New Year’s Day with very high winds forecast for both Monday and Tuesday, up to 65mph, possibly stronger.
