Relaunch of Tours Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 29th December 2011

The Island's only coach firm has been saved.

Protours will be rebranded and relaunched on New Year's Day under its original name, Tours Isle of Man.

Managing director Roy Lightfoot and a former Tours chairman John Guilford have bought the company's assets from the previous owner, South African businessman Fred Kinnear.

James Davis reports (text, below) from attached audio file):

It's a great Christmas present for staff at the firm who were facing an uncertain future after being issued with redundancy notices in the summer.

Although Mr Lightfoot admits the management buy-out doesn't ease all the problems, as the company will still need to downsize, it means the Island's only private coach company can continue trading.

The firm will continue to operate from its base in Ballasalla with all current contracts honoured and new business sought in a marketing drive.
