Firefighters called to kitchen fire

by isleofman.com 22nd December 2011

FIREFIGHTERS attended a kitchen fire at a flat in Derby Square, Douglas, last night (Wednesday).

The incident happened just after 8pm and a crew wearing breathing apparatus entered the second floor flat which was heavily smoke logged.

The fire was located to an overheated grill pan and was quickly extinguished.

The occupant of the flat had managed to evacuate the property but received oxygen therapy on scene for minor smoke inhalation.

Once the fire had been dealt with crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property.

The fire damage was confined to the cooker but there was smoke damage throughout the flat.
