FIREFIGHTERS were forced to cut away a bathroom ceiling last night (Tuesday) after a bathroom fire in Port Erin.
Fire crews from Port Erin were called to a property on Bay View Road at 6.50pm.
On arrival they found a mechanical extractor fan, which was located within the ceiling, had caught fire and dropped onto a carpet below.
Four firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher and water hose reel.
They then had to cut away a substantial part of the bathroom ceiling in order to check for further fire spread.
The fire was confined to the bathroom and the people in the property escaped without injury.
