A Christmas message from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft

by isleofman.com 25th December 2011

A CHRISTMAS message for isleofman.com readers from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft:

"To all constituents in Douglas South:

"I would like to thank you for your continued support since the election.

"Whilst canvassing you shared your concerns with me and the main priority with many was our heath service and, in particular, how it would be affected in the current economic climate.

"I agree with you that good health is the most important thing that you can have and that excellent healthcare should not be viewed as a luxury.

"Since October I have asked questions in the House of Keys and Tynwald about a number of issues including hospital waiting lists, operating theatre usage and the need for an independent audit of our health care services.

"In 2012 I will continue to represent you by questioning the relevant departments whenever necessary.

"I believe in the saying of "putting your money where your mouth is" and that is exactly what I will be doing in the New Year.

"I was unexpectedly offered a departmental position in the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture. This is a department that interests me and one where I feel I can make a contribution.

"It also gives me a 30 per cent increase to the basic salary as an MHK and I shall be using this increase to form and fund a Manx Patients Association until it is self-financing.

"I really believe that this will be a huge benefit to the whole Island and I hope that you will support it by becoming a member.

"If you would like to register your interest in this now my contact details are 01624 853352 or 07624 201918 or Kate.beecroft@liberalvannin.org and I would be delighted to hear from you.

"I look forward to representing you in the coming year and would like to wish everyone on the Island a Merry Christmas and a very healthy New Year."
