August 2011: Trevor Baines’ possessions auctioned

by isleofman.com 1st January 2012

AN auction of furniture, pictures, porcelain, glass and curios took place at the former house of Trevor Baines in August.

Trevor Baines was found guilty of money laundering and false accounting in 2009 and is serving a six-year sentence at the Island's prison.

In February 2010, he was jailed for a further two and a half years - for stealing more than £900,000 - and his wife, Wendy, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for obtaining £400,000 by deception.

Africa House, the couple's mansion in Woodbourne Road, Douglas, was seized to pay the fines and the property has since been sold.

Among the items up for auction were a Bluthner baby grand piano, model trains, music and photographic equipment and more.

The estate was handled by Deanwood estate agents.
